Synopsis
Break the shackles, shatter the taboos, cast off the blinders…. With “Literature is a journey”, director Alan Nogues shows just how precious literature is in a country under construction. All aged between 26 and 40, a new generation of authors is emerging in New Caledonia, and their importance is not sufficiently highlighted.
Whether painting in black a New Caledonia that has gone politically mad, describing the side effects of uncontrollable mining activity, the taboo of homosexuality in a tribal environment, or the reality of prison shock for those who have fallen by the wayside, this is a literature of reality that tells the country in a brutally honest way.
Built around 5 authors, men and women, whose books the director stages extracts from, this film is a veritable visual voyage to the heart of the imagination and freedom of expression. A film about singular universes and authors for whom “speaking the truth” is more urgent than ever.
