Synopsis
Over the Water returns for season 2 with even more spectacular images of New Caledonia’s regions. From Pouébo to Ouégoa, via Hienghene and the Côte Oubliée, water is always at the heart of the stories. The words of men who recount their country through the exploration of breathtaking landscapes, the stories plunge the viewer into a world where nature takes on a sacred meaning. From rivers to oceans, from river mouths to mountain peaks, mysterious springs reveal legends, but also ways of being in the world. Pouébo and its thousand rivers, Hienghène and the isolated valleys of Mont Panié where the tributaries of the Wayem flow, Ouegoa and the immense Diahot river, the Forgotten Coast fiercely guarding the country’s last wild waterways – these are just some of the regions where water becomes a vehicle for the voice of the sacred. Stories that intertwine and respond to each other as the episodes unfold, revealing an underlying reality that anchors people to this land. Told as much in French as in the various Kanak languages, this is a show that captivates through its images and fills us with wonder.
