Synopsis
“Memories” is a unique documentary and cultural collection that offers a journey into the tangible and intangible heritage of New Caledonia. Through eight 26-minute films, “Mémoires” explores, in a chronological manner, the different eras of our territory’s history, its legends, its relics, its objects, and its artistic works that have shaped the historical and cultural mosaic of the island.
Each film will focus on a historical period and its emblematic heritage, from the canoe to contemporary works, including Lapita pottery or the Kanak hut. “Mémoires” will bring together perspectives from historians, artists, memory keepers, or citizens who hold traces of the past, to weave connections between tangible and intangible heritage, everyday and artistic objects, history, and the present… A fascinating journey filled with knowledge and emotions that will represent New Caledonia in all its diversity.
