Synopsis
For a long time, people with disabilities in Wallis and Futuna have been hidden away, excluded from society, invisible. Most of the time, they remained hidden at home, invisible to their families, who did not accept the disability of a son, brother or niece. Today, the taboo persists, even if it is tending to diminish. Recently, collective and individual wills have been “moving the lines” in favor of the inclusion of the disabled, who represent at least 5% of the Wallisian and Futunian population.
